The Cyberpatriot Team consists of six members per team. Five of them are allowed to participate in each round and the sixth member is able to switch out with another member in the case that members needs to leave.
Cyberpatriot is part of the National Youth Cyber Education Program created by the Air Force Association (AFA) to inspire students grades K-12 toward careers in cybersecurity and STEM. It features the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, where teams secure virtual networks, fix vulnerabilities on virtual machine-ware provided by VMware, and gain technical skills and knowledge which are only allowed to be used in defensive hacking.
What is the difference between defensive hacking and offensive hacking? Offensive hacking simulates cyberattacks to proactively identify and exploit system vulnerabilities, while defensive hacking focuses on monitoring, detecting, and mitigating threats to protect infrastructure in real time.
